New Market’s Pre-Veterinary Technician program
will prepare you for a career in animal healthcare
and science. The program provides a foundation for
employment in a variety of fields including
veterinary medicine, fish and wildlife, service animal
care and training, zoological and aquatic parks,
equine science, boarding and grooming, research,
and animal nutrition.
The Pre-Veterinary Technician program will help
you become adept at handling and caring for
healthy and compromised animals, conducting
physical examinations and dental cleanings,
gathering patient history, and performing basic
hospital diagnostic tests. Nearly 25 veterinarians in
a five county region partner with New Market for
instruction and internships, giving you opportunities
to observe and participant in clinical cases*
from diagnosis to treatment.
With emphasis on hands-on interactive labs,
fieldwork, research, and debates, you will take a
multi-faceted look at animal health and disease.
From anatomy and physiology, to husbandry and
nutrition, there are many aspects to maintaining a
healthy animal and the Pre-Veterinary program will
help you explore them. Other areas of focus in the
program are client interaction, hospital management,
medical ethics, and career/educational
strategies.
